Bosch Internship
March – Current
Thank you Isack Yeman for this wonderful job entry allowing me to get hands on experience in Data – Based sales and storytelling- feel free to have a look at his business successes! (Click on his name)
Study: International Management
Thanks to Bosch Professional Switzerland I could do the obligatory 5 months internship of my study programm in this successful traditional company, where I was pressured to perform resulting in learning a large variety of skills to and an development of existing skills to an unprecedented level!
This Blog Post is about the key learnings I had and the skills I acquired by doing this internship.
My Internship Learnings:
1. Excel – From a Beginner to the Excel Guide of the office
2. Performance – Working in strict high performing hierarchy and deadlines
3. Data – Extracting, Analysis, Contextualising and Strategizing based on Sales Data
1. Excel
My boss Serdar Arda is the best Excel user I had the honor of meeting to this date. Just working with him and seeing his hands flying from shortcut to shortcut navigating the programm made me realize the potential of shortcuts and helped me discover many uncommon functions such as the SUMIF function which he taught me.
As I worked in Excel for 8 hours a day I had a lot of time to practice and internalize the functions. Furthermore, I learned how to build clean Spreadsheets that are understandable for collegues.
In weekly Jour Fix – Allignment Calls I learned to quickly dive into Spreadsheets by giving a brief overview of the Excel structure and the goal of the file presented. With harsch feedback and continous iterative improvements of my file structes I learned to build great Excel files containing Pivto and Powerquery Standardizations that help overview large amounts of Data.
2. Performance
On the other hand, the expected performance was high regardless and I learned to get my shit together and work until a task is DONE. This discipline is something I learned in a fight against doubts such as “I cant do this today” and “I have never learned this, why do I have to do it?”
A lot of the complaints I had in the beginning were shot down and I learned to adapt to a high – performing environment that focuses on solutions and results instead of creating a perfectly efficient process that does not lead to any short and midterm results .
3. Data
To be able to make these points it was necessary to extract a solid data base and make a prediction based on trends we can identify and reasons we know why tools are selling better or worse than in previous years.
My Conclusion
In Conclusion, I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned so much about sales, what is essential in the communication with key accounts, how to work with and strategize around Data and the collegues I could meet! I also noticed that the particular industry of powertools was not as interesting to me as IT – appliciances, software and technological innovations revolving around Smart Tech and Artificial Intelligence and am hoping to get into this industry in the next steps of my career!
